Journal

We began our hike at the Fish Creek Trailhead to get on the Clackamas River Trail which would take us to Pup Creek Falls. The trail roughly follows the south shore of the river for miles and miles. It’s a beautiful 7 mile out-and-back hike, with many opportunities for a swim in the warmer months. Last August, we took a Clackamas River raft trip along this same stretch through Blue Sky Rafting and had a blast. I hiked the same trail on a hot August day in back in 2011.

We were under a bit of a time crunch because we’d made plans for dinner with some friends, so we stopped just short of the Pup Creek Falls before having to turn back for dinner. Next summer, we plan to return with our bikes and drop them off at Indian Head Campground. Then we’ll  hike the 7 miles from Fish Creek, past the Pup Creek Falls, and then up to Indian Head pick up the bikes and coast back down Hwy 224 and back to the car. Sounds like fun to me!
